Going for second at 2nd's Restaurant

The Signage of 2nd's Restaurant.

On a rainy mid-morning Sunday, we decided to have lunch at the Bonifacio Global City. We decided to have a nice lunch at the 2nd's Restaurant. Right next door to the Agave Mexican Restaurant, on the second floor of Quadrant 3, Bonifacio Highstreet, 9th Avenue, Global City, Taguig. A very homey and comfortable place to bring guests and balikbayans for good Filipino Comfort food.

SeaBass Sinigang

Sea Bass Sinigang- The sour tamarind soup made with Sea Bass was very soft and was loved by my niece. Served with a small bowl of rice and a stick of garlic bread. It was very good. who could have thought that adding an expensive fish such as the melt-in-your mouth Chilean Sea Bass in Sinigang. It was lovely!

Bacon Chicharon

Bacon Chicharon -  sounds deadly but it looks delicious. It was pretty good but it does taste better. With the bacon, it came with two types of sauces/ dips a spiced vinegar and the "muscovado" mustard. Dipped my bacon strip in both sauce and I think that the Muscovado mustard tasted better and goes better than the spiced vinegar.

Tilapia with Thai Red Curry

Tilapia with Thai Red Curry - Being someone who happens to like curry, I can't resist when I see any type of curry in any menu. I decided to try their Tilapia with Thai Red Curry. The fish fillet was fresh and delicious. It really went well with the Red Curry. The spiciness was just right... Good with beer too.
Roast Beef Raclette Sandwich

Roast Beef Raclette Sandwich-  an open faced roast beef sandwich with thin slices of roast beef , caramelized onions and topped with raclette cheese. It was pretty good for my taste. Came with their "home fries" and horse raddish and grainy mustard dips and toppings for the sandwich. It was all good even the fries were enjoyable too.

Beef Adobo

Beef Adobo - This was an absolute delight. Thinking of Filipino Comfort food, adobo would be on top of my list. One of the best adobo's that I have ever tasted. Not the usual adobo taste of salty and sour. It had a different approach to the usual adobo that we all know and love. It had roasted garlic cloves served in a casuela and green mango achara. Beef ribs cooked to perfection that was falling off the bone. Very delectable rich sauce and flavor.

As the namesake of the restaurant say's 2nd's we did get 2 orders of the adobo and 2 more orders of rice. I would say it is a coincidence!

2nd's is located at 2/F, Quadrant 3, Bonifacio Highstreet, 9th Avenue, Global City, Taguig. Call 8465293 for reservations.

A quaint new resto.... The Sauceria

Last Sunday, May 22nd, we celebrated my parents wedding anniversary at a quaint little restaurant along Boni Serrano Ave in Q.C. It was called The Sauceria.Owned by a dubbing director, the restaurant was spacious and inviting. You can even have meetings held there. They were on their soft opening last week and the staff were pretty much fine with the food orders and service, since my family and I were the only people in the resto. Their menu written on a clear glass panel hanging on the wall (sorry no photo of main menu, it was not able to register on the camera) had a variety of Asian and European food. They had Japanese curries, pastas, and sandwiches.

Private Room for small events or meetings.

Spacious main dining area.

Some of the food that we ordered though needed just a little twitching in flavor and presentation. But all in all it was good. Food price are very affordable. You will spend about 350 to 400 PHP per person.

Happy Lemon... Rock Salt Cheese Drink

I found a whole lot of food blogs raving about Happy Lemon in Greenhills. I became so curious about it that I told myself that if I were in the Greenhills vicinity, I would pass by and check out what these people are talking about. Finally got an opportunity to step into the store and check out what it is all about.

Found at the ground floor of the Promenade (just beside Starbucks), you'll find Happy Lemon. A beverage hangout that began in Hong Kong a few years back. The place is just quaint and nice to hangout with friends. Their drink have a lot of variants. Start of with the Lemon Series with Lemon Peppermint with Nata de Coco and Lemon Yogurt with Aloe as their best sellers.

The Rock Salt Cheese Group was pretty unique. Their best seller is the Green Tea with Rock Salt (Green Rock Salt) and Cheese.
Happy Lemon's Green Tea with Rock Salt and Cheese

At first I found it to be a weird combination, but I loved the strong taste of the Green Tea and the Green Rock Salt really complimented the taste of the tea. I would say it was very flavorful and just the right flavor and combination of all the ingredients.

I also scanned their menu while waiting for my drink. I may have to come back often to try their other best sellers like their  Milk Tea with Black Pearl Sago, Roasted Milk Tea with Pearl Sago, Crispy Cocoa Milk Tea  with Brown Sugar Jelly, Lemon Yakult, Crispy Cocoa Match with Brown Sugar Jelly and the Yakult Green Tea.With drinks ranging in sizes (small, medium, large) as well as prices (Php 65.00 - Php 110.00 depending on the size and kind of drink) who would not come back for more. Til next time!

Ciao!

A day of Chinese Food--- and Fast!

Headed for Greenhills today. Decided to eat at the Promenade. Choosing the cuisine that I wanted was a bit difficult. Went for Chinese food and ordered food at Su Zhou Dimsim. A simple shack that's pretty much self-service (though a waiter would bring your food order to where your seated at)

Su Zhou Dimsum, simple Chinese fast food shack.

My table number.
I wanted something light yet filling, so I ordered their Mapo Tofu with Salted Fish and Pork Rice Topping.
Mapo Tofu with Salted Pork Rice Topping

When The food was pretty good for a little shack. The tofu was absolutely soft and delectable. Same with the pork it was not over cooked. It was just right and soft to the bite. The spiciness of the sauce was just right not too spicy. Surprisingly, i also found out that they use Japanese Rice. Overall food was pretty impressive, it was good and just right and good for it's value. For Php 130.00 it was worth it. But I am sure to be back for more and try other food in their menu... Mayby try some dimsum as weel like their Xiao Long Bao and some siopao.

The begining of the blog...

Today, I actually thought of starting my own blog.I know it has taken time for mew to think about doing this but as people would always say, "It's better LATE than NEVER!" Well today marks a new day for me a new start to things that I want to start and look forward to into the future perhaps.

Everything started in a quaint coffee shop in a mall not far from home. While waiting to kill time and planning what to do next for the day. Possibly, unable to open my FB page in the mall... crap... suddenly thought of making a blog for myself... maybe put in travel and food memories too. Though at first, I wanted to start a food blog where i write in my food adventures but then, I also thought of adding some travel thoughts as well... something like being my very own travel and food specialist. Make myself known to some people around of course, there is the photos that I will be adding up to this. A lot of things to think and talk about in this place. Also a lot of things to say and give thought about the places and food that will be tackled.

Excited to discover new things as well... Excited to experiment on new ideas.

Ciao! And see you till next time.

The Bulacan Trip and Yummy Lunch

About 3 weeks ago, my mom invited me to go with her and my dad to Baliwag, Bulacan. They were going to pay for the lot that my late grandmother owned. As we left for the day, I wanted to find out what things were new in that place. Last time I went there I was like in 3rd grade I think. Lo and behold, I saw a whole lot of progress in the place. Banners of an SM City Baliwag Sale happening (or happened) in the middle of this month, Puregold signs with arrows posted in almost every corner heading through the area  A whole lot of progress for the city at least.

After which, lunch came at a nice litter resto along T. Morato, Cafe UNO. A liitle quaint resto with very simple interiors and tables, ground floor area can sit about 24 people, the second floor can probably sit about 30-40. As we entered through the main door the bakery filled with freshly baked bread greeted us.  As we were seated to the table, they had a very simple menu. My mom ordered the duck breast, my dad ordered the special of the day, which was the blue marlin and onion soup and I ordered pasta (unfortunately I was not able to take pictures (next time I will be placing my camera on top of the table)(Pictures to be posted later on). We served bread (focaccia and ciabatta slices) while waiting for the food to be served. The food was simple but flavorful.

Dessert was good as well. A lemon tart and a cheesecake, but I thought that it was going to be that good because I heard some people raving about how good it tastes, but for someone with a sweet tooth like mine, it really did not taste that special as what others had said or raved about. Maybe it's just me.

'Til next time.
